As President Trump’s tariffs threaten jobs and create economic uncertainty, Ontario is fighting back by investing in our greatest strength: our workers.
Under the leadership of Doug Ford, our Ontario PC team is committing $2.5 billion to skills training and development, helping workers gain the skills they need to secure good-paying jobs in high-demand industries.
Already, more than 1,000 training projects have been supported, helping over 700,000 workers prepare for rewarding careers in critical sectors of Ontario’s economy.
And we’re doing even more to train the next generation of skilled trades workers.
Our Ontario PC team is investing:
- $21 million through the Pre-Apprenticeship Program to help people gain hands-on experience and prepare for careers in the skilled trades.
- $20.5 million through the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program to introduce more young people to rewarding careers in the trades.
- $1.7 billion to create more than 70,000 additional postsecondary seats in high-demand programs, including 3,800 new seats in skilled trades programs.
These investments are delivering results. Ontario now has more than 95,000 registered apprentices, with 14,000 new registrations and 9,100 apprenticeship completions in 2026.
With our historic $236 billion infrastructure plan underway, Ontario needs skilled workers to build the highways, hospitals, schools and critical infrastructure our growing province depends on.
While President Trump threatens Ontario jobs, Doug Ford and our Ontario PC team are standing up for workers, investing in their future and building a stronger, more competitive and self-reliant economy.
We’re protecting Ontario workers and making sure they have the skills and opportunities to succeed, today and for generations to come.
